About PC Cruises

PC Cruises is a small, independent guide that explains how cruise travel works, in plain English, for people planning a trip.

What we cover

The guides cover the decisions most cruise travelers face: the type of cruise, the cabin, what to pack, port days and health and safety at sea. There is also a first-cruise timeline and a glossary.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell cruises, take bookings or act as a travel agent.
  • We do not name, rank or review cruise lines or ships.
  • We do not list fares or prices, which change too often to stay accurate.
  • We have no partner links and are not paid by any cruise or travel company.
  • We cannot answer questions about a specific sailing or booking. Your cruise line or travel agent can.

How we write

Each guide sticks to general principles that hold true across most ships. Where practice varies, we say so and suggest what to check. Where something affects your health, your safety or your right to enter a country, we point to official sources: government travel advisories, public health agencies and your cruise line's own terms. Figures are rounded and marked "about" when they vary.

Who it is for

The guides assume no experience. They suit people weighing up a first cruise, families trying to work out which cabin fits everyone, and returning cruisers who want a quick refresher on documents or port days. If you are comparing two sailings, the guides help you ask better questions; the answers for a particular ship come from the line itself.

Official sources

The health and safety guide lists official travel advice and health guidance from several governments. These are the right places to check entry requirements, safety levels and vaccine advice before you travel.

Keeping guides current

Cruise practices shift over time. Safety briefings have moved partly to video, many ships now run check-in through an app, and entry rules change with little notice. We review the guides and update them when common practice changes, and we date-check anything tied to official rules against the source before we change it.

Limits of this guide

Nothing on this site is medical, legal or financial advice. Ships, routes and rules change, and a general guide cannot cover every case. Always confirm the details of your own trip with your cruise line, and talk to a doctor about your own health before you sail. The terms and privacy pages explain how the site works.
